hey i have a tippmann a-5 and im getting a barrel im pretty sure i want a J&J ceramic 16inch
i was looking at pics and the barrle is machined along the sides
wont that decrease the "punch" and speed of the paintball?

Nope
A paintball only accelerates within the first 6 or so inches of the barrel

so the only reason for a longer barrle is accuracy?

Nope, 10-16 inches is the optimal barrel length
Past that they only use more air

i was looking a two friends barrels(not j&j )one has a 16 and one a 12
12 is to short 16 to long so im going with the 14
