So this coming weekend I am going to a "Robin Hood" event. It's an event where an out gunned Merry Men team (usually pumps and mechs) face off against the Sheriff of Nottingham's forces (usually electros).

With it being a Robin Hood event, I figured what the heck! We've gotten our hands on a couple of Airow Guns and we're going to own some electos (hopefully). I'll be updating this next weekend to let you guys know what I think of the airow gun.

For those of you who don't know what an airow gun is.. here's a pic:

I love this idea. are you gonna have pictures or videos?
One of my teammates (also using an airgun) will have his helmet cam on. I might borrow it for an hour or so. he'll post it to youtube and i'll post it here. Hopefully we'll get some pics up as well.

My only suggestion, is make sure you take a spare pump. I haven't used one, but if its anything like a real bow, it will get tiresome. Fast.

At a field I go to the owners have a couple of Airow guns and they are fun as a novelty which I think is what they are meant to be. That said if you could get a couple of teams with them it would be the most epic game ever.

Yup I'm bringing the phantom and plan on using that for most of the day. I believe the bows are only set at 35 or 40 lbs so its not to bad at all. My hunting bow is set at 70.

slingshots are
True, but fields won't let you use slingshots because they are impossible to consistently chrono. From what I've been told the airow gun is very easy to chrono and is very consistent.

Sorry guys, have been very busy. Didn't get back from the field sunday until around midnight. Had a pretty good day with the bows. I got 2 kills with it. This is a picture of the airow bow I used. I'll have a more complete report on it later this evening. The helmet cam's should be up by mid week although I forgot to switch masks when I took the bow for a spin.

It is. the airow system mounts on to any regular compound or you can buy it with one

EDIT: Not the threadjack, but I just custom ordered my new bow today. should be here in a week, I'll post pictures when I get it!

wow that looks like an actual compound bow!
It is. It's a PSC something. Used to be a hunting bow. The airow gun attaches to any compound bow.

Here is a pic of the other guy on our team using another airow gun. I'll have a full review posted shortly.

Airow Gun Review:

I'll start off by agreeing with crawdaddy: These things would make the most epic game ever if everyone used them!

Positives of the Airow gun:

1. No Air source. The Airow gun doesn't use any air source. No tanks, 12 grams, nothing. When you draw the bow back it sucks in air and when the bow is released, it used that air to propel the paintball.

2. Cheap: You shoot a little less than you would using a pump making it very affordable to play.

3. Shooting someone with it is possibly the best feeling in paintball I've ever had. It's even more sweet when they are running an electro and attempting to bunker your friend who's right in front of you.

4. Very consistent chrono. It was a super hot day and everyone was spiking all over the place. My phantom was like +-8 with the 12's being so hot. The airow gun was about +-3.

5. Light weight: It's lighter than an ego with a full hopper and a tank on the back. It's also a lighter set up because you're not going to need to carry 6 or 7 pods at a time.

Neutral feelings about airow guns (not really a positive or negative)

1. They wear you out after awhile. I only played with one for about an hour and I was like that's enough. We had the bows pull set at 50 lbs, and it chronoed at around 265 to 270. So if you wanted to shoot closer to 300 fps you'd have to pull the bow at around 60 or 65 is my guess.

2. Does not hurt your bow in anyway shape or form. I had several people at the event ask if it would break the bow from dry firing. The airow gun actually puts more force on your string then an arrow does so using a real arrow will break your bow down faster than using the airow gun.

Negatives of the airow bow (most of which are to be expected and didn't surprize me at all.

1. Very bulky. The barrel has to be 18 inches to allow pressure to build up in it, and the bow it's self isn't easy to move around when behind a bunker.

2. Needs space to shoot. From the last picture you can see the back ground is solid pine trees... You couldn't shoot the airow bow in that because you'd run into low hanging branches so we had to sorta stick to the clearings. Not fun when some A-hole is running a 12bps ramping mode.

3. Very Slow rate of Fire. You can not just pull the bow back a shoot it. First you have to pull a little mini pump handle to chamber a ball then you draw the bow back and fire. They really need to figure out how to get a ball chambered with the draw of the bow.

4. Accuracy is hard to get used to. I was all over the place for about half an hour before I realized your needed to shoot this like a bow. Steady it, and hold the bow still even after you release the string. This makes snap shooting very very very hard. i did get good enough with it to clip someone in the the pack that was sticking out the side of a bunker, but its not easy.

5. Off hand shooting is nearly impossible.. Ever shoot a right handed bow left handed?... No... yeah me either...
