OK. I'm a newbie and may be in the wrong forum. If so, show mercy please...

I have a Tippman Custom 98 with a J&J 14" barrel. I'm not sure what the problem is but when I shoot, the paintball takes an unusual "corkscrew" path. Not accurate at all. One of the experienced players suggested that my Co2 may be "choppy" for whatever that is worth.

This kind of sucks cuz I was really excited about using this barrel and now I have to shoot 3 or 4 times before I hit my target.

Any recommendations on how to correct this problem?

Could be any number of things really.

Too high a velocity is popular if you didn't have access to a chronograph
Paint that is too small for the bore of the barrel could be another cause
bad/cheap/old/not-round paintballs could be another
dirt or paint in the barrel can also cause it

clean the barrel.
make sure the paint isn't dirty, dimpled, or has been sweating.
check velocity

also, try a friends paint that is a different brand if u can.

Here, also, When you check the bore sizes, take the barrel off, then put a paintball through it...If it falls out, thats not good. If it gets stuck or doesnt fit, it isnt good. But if it goes in about a quater or halfway. Thats good.

Also make sure that no paint broke in your hopper, because that would coat your paint and bake it have dreaded accuracy.
