As of yesterday, I'm on my 3rd tranny in my Firebird. Damn 4L60E won't hold up worth ****, but it's under warranty for a year so I'm going to keep it that long. The last one went 900 miles before the pump went out at the dragstrip and burnt up all the bands. I reset the trip meter, so we'll see how far this one goes.

What are you doing to kill these transmissions? 4L60E's aren't the strongest things out there but they aren't that easy to break, if you're swapping out anyway have you considered a built T-56? Nothing is better than hitting your own gears.

I wanted to swap in a T-56, but it's still under warranty so I'm sticking with it until its up.

The current tranny has a B&M Cooler and shift kit, so I'm hoping that'll help out some.

I have no idea why these trannys are dying on me, my car is relatively stock.
