A teacher from school told me about this group that bought a church and live in it. That alone caught my attention. Then he told me they make really weird music and have video to go with it. Now I definitely wanted to go

so we went and checked it out. since they didnt have to rent anything out the show was free.

It started off with like a 25 minute ambient song with a slide show of art pieces one of the guys had done. It was really neat. You know when you pull tape off of paper it sometimes takes some of the words with it? it was all like that with really thought provoking themes.

After that a guy came up and played some acoustic songs and sang. they were really good. Then a halirous ironic song about SUV's.

Then this girl put on a video she made with music they made playing. Really cool.

Once that was finished the band came up and played this amazing 30 minute song. It started with the girl playing these really eerie notes on a piano.. except, it was the guts of a piano up against the walls and she was pluking the strings with her fingers. Then another guy came in hitting effects symbols with the screws in them. after a bit of that, a guy came in just smashing a bass drum. that went on for a bit, then the girl on the paino went over and started playing an organ. After this on of the guys started reverbing and looping everything creating a growing distortion until everything was just noise. and bangs. Then the girl was reading something and that was all that was left.

It was really cool. a lot like Godspeed you! Black Emperor.

thats sick... i want to go to a punk show at c-squat. if you dont know what squatting is its when a homeless person lives in an abandoned building. in NYC its illegal, but theres alot of legal disputes. anyway, c-squat is near tompkins square park in NYC, and c-squat is around the corner. the band choking victim used to have shows there. its really weird, its an abandoned building that has a stage, and people just go to shows there.

this is the bathroom:

yeah the good old punk shows were pretty sweet. Nothings gonna beat the basement shows I dont think. But this came real close. The environment was just amazing.

Yeah, haha squating. Ive mapped out some of the best squats in my city. I dont usually spend the night. Just get a little down time in them.
