Proto matrix is smaller, body and internals.

Dm4 has a clamping feedneck, UL barrel, on/off, and uses a membrane pad to turn off and on.

the difference between the DM4 and Proto is...


On the proto, they got rid of the On/off thing under the barrel of the DM4, and moved the LPR to the front

The proto's bolt is shorter, and can be run at a higher PSI for better gas effiency

The proto has Push buttons in the back like an angel instead of a membrane

The proto has a 1 peice eye cover that goes over the top of the body

the proto has a non/clamping no rise feed neck

the proto comes w/ the proto barrel (which is equilient to the dye excel barrel) instead of the ultralight the DM4 comes w/

WDP now holds the patent on reprogrammable memory in paintball guns, which means only ROM chips are now allowed, which means software upgrades arnt allowed.

This all stems from SP originally trying to patent the solenoid in electronic guns.

no. Ur wrong. Sure WDP has the patent on it, that only means sp can't make guns that use software upgrades. Dye has not been told to stop using reprogramable boards by WDP, therefor they are doing nothing wrong.

Proto matrix suck, and there ugly.... and smell bad. Its a cheaper, smaller version of a dm4

i talked to a guy that worked at my local shop and he said the proto is a smaller version of the matrix (dm3). i thought it was like the dm4 too...?
if this is true, go with the dm4.
