Well, here comes a rant. At least I think it'll turn into one..

In the middle of my last school year (freshmen year) I got really sick around December. By March I had missed tons of school and was back and fourth from the doctors and finally at the end of March I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease (an intolerence to gluten) by means of an endoscopy. Although I was finally diagnosed, I was still sick and it would take a while for me to recover. I failed 2nd semester, attended summer school, and things seemed okay for sophmore year.

Sophmore year rolls around, things seem alright. Then I start showing more symptoms of stomach problems and evantually depression. I was missing more school and was finally diagnosed with IBS/IBD and mild depression. My gastroenterologist refered me to a therapist to help me deal with my sicknesses, depression, and school.

So around this time I've had the therapist for about a month or so.. and my Primary Care Doctor is distributing my anti-depressant medication until I can get a specialist to handle it. A week or so ago, I had a bad side-effect to my Zoloft which increased suicidal tendencies.. I ended up overdosing on benzodiazapines but I was fine..

This is about one week later. I'm still missing school because of what happened.I have sleeping problems, alot of insomnia and It is so hard for me to just wake up in the morning. I am NOT lazy, I'd love to get back in a routine and start school. But I'm just at a loss right now. I dont know what to do.. I already failed 1st semester, (40 absences, 0 GPA), and my freshmen year's GPA was very low also. Now here I am in 2nd Semester Sophmore year, already far behind and missing school..

what the **** should i do guys? its not like im doing it cause im lazy or dont want to go..

thanks for listening

wow... just wow... maybe you could get a tutor at home or something? sounds like your school is pretty strict.
Even if my absences were excused, I couldnt make up the work in time and would fail anyway

just find the best way to make up school, and go for it man. Dont worry about the past to much, what happened happened and you cant change it. Just try and get back into your routine, and try and keep a positive outlook on everything...

I'd love to do that dude.. Can I enter one of those technical schools to get a degree in Live Sound with a GED?

I dont think my parents would be fond of me dropping out, since theyre both dropouts..

Dude, dont fret.

If you can find a way to put in an effort, you can pass highschool. Its really not THAT bad.

As far as the whole therpist psychological thing goes, I can tell you to take a train ride to Quincy and we can fix all that.

Dont let anybody or anything control you but yourself. So your depressed. Lots of people feel like ****. I've been there with you bro.

When you give in, your basicly letting your enviornment get the best of you. Find something you love, and when you feel like ****, tell everyone you need to do something, go and do it. Get your mind off things.

If you dont know what you love, try new things. Just take a walk into town and walk around. I'm sure you'll come across something/someone/somewhere.

You need your diploma. Even if 1/2 of what you'd be "learning" is BS, you gotta hang in there and rough it out. You dont need to get A's (well in your case you might have to to bring up your points)

You need to keep your head up, hold onto some pride and deturmination, march on down to your guidance counselor, and tell them what you've told us.

Dropping out should NOT be an option. It is there, but you dont have to. Even if your going to bomb school, isn't it still fun at least sometimes?

Next week I'll be reffing/playing a lot of paintball, and if thats what you love (I know its what I do), come on down and have a good time.

You'd have to talk to your consouler about that. Maybe also talk to your consouler about taking a lot of online classes. That way if you HAVE to miss school, you can still get your work done at home.

And I'm assuming that you atleast passed some classes... Do some summer school, online classes, and get as many credits knocked out your Juniour year. Then your senior year, take whatever is needed again. Sure you might be a super senior, but it's possible to get everything done.

But yeah my senior year I only have 2 and a half credits left, so I'll be released on work study, pretty kickass.

Ever consider home schooling?
ehh homeschooling from what i have seen can be costly...he said both his parents were dropouts so IDK if they would be able to teach him (i tried getting homeschooled so i can relate, but my parents didnt have time/effort/knowledge to do it)

well youre only in your sophomore year...would you be willing to take summer school/online classes and maybe have to do 5 years in high school? idk if that is worth it but yeah...

i was in the same predicament as you man...i had a 2.0 cumulative GPA going into my senior year, moved here to georgia, and became deeply depressed. I got put on meds that worked good, but i had trouble sleeping/getting up. So i missed about 25 days of school when in december i decided that i was going to drop out.

my parents supported me no matter what, which i was very happy for. im moving back home (washington) in may to live with friends. getting my ged, then im going to get a job and go to CC and maybe a 4 year college after that...so i know exactly what youre going through man. gooluck

just my imput. dump out the pills. drink a bunch of water and sleep off the illness. If **** gets so hard for you in life that you feel the need to kill yourself then maybe you don't have what it takes to live as part of this society. People will not hold your hand all the way through life. An illness where something is wrong with your body is one thing but being depressed. you tell yourself I am depressed or I am kickin ass today. its up to you to decide how you are gonna feel. The weight of the world can be on you and it shouldn't matter because your shoulders could take the weight of the universe. Any time something bad happens say well at least this didn't happen. My buddy got stabbed in the gut. You know what he said? well at least he didn't cut off my nuts. the dude had a chunk outa his liver. And he is looking at the brightside....is there a hole in your liver? no so drive on. I don't put anything in my body that is supposed to make me better. Its one thing to jump on some cold medcine or somethin but treating the mind is a very sensitive item that too many people treat loosely.

That is the ultimate advice there. I was feeling ****ty for a couple weeks about a month ago and I realized if I just stopped feeling sorry for myself, and stopped making a big deal out of somthing small, everything seemed trivial . Just look on the bright side, have more energy, and stop focusing on the bad.

sure, that sounds like it works, but when you're truly depressed, its really not that easy. it all depends on your situation though. like when i got depressed, i really didnt have anything to say "well gosh at least i have this" because i didnt really have anything..i was in a new state, a new school, a whole new world basically. tried to make friends but its hard to because most of the school lives in columbus in the bad parts of town where i wouldnt want to go for fear of getting shot. the only thing i had to look forward to was lounging pbf and playing xbox live...

I know what you mean. I know I wasn't REALLY depressed. I'm jsut saying you don't need drugs, you odn't need therapy. It's all about mentally coaching yourself. Just think rationally.
