Oh, sorry i forgot to label that stuff....Currently i have an egg, and compressed air...getting a new barrel farely soon...

What exactly would i need to do to make it better then an ion?

Also what is a bolt? And what would be a nice one?

What else would just be good upgrades?

Also just a quick question....there is 2 parts to the regulator right? How do u find both in buying a regulator?

Hmmm, to make it better than teh ion...

First, I would get a new bolt. The Tigershark bolt is nice, but i dont beleive I that they make them anymore, so I would go with a Shocktech Supa Fly. It is a nice, delron bolt. I highly suggest it. The bolt is the part that you pull to cock.

If you want to make it as good as an Ion, I would suggest picking up a T-board. It is an electronic board to replace the one in your imagine grip frame now. I beleive the T-Board is capped at 30 bps, but it doesnt matter because you cant shoot that fast. Just ask around, others will know more about it than me.

A new Regulator would be good. Although regs come in two parts, you buy them together. When you buy a reg you buy the entire thing. So no worries. Another good upgrade would be a clamping feed neck. That way you dont have to deal with the high rise, and your hopper sits lower. Also no more messing around with them breaking. Try a CCM lo-rise. Or really any others.

Hope that helps,

Zeruel.

Wow thanks for all the suggestions so far...Umm what would be a great place to buy a t-board from? Will it really help and why? How do i install the T-board? Also was buying a imagine 05 a waste because i am just switching out everything or no?

one other quick question...if i did get the t-board then would i stil have the same electric trigger? Can i ever change the electric trigger?

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!

Heh, never heard about the blue bolt, but looks pretty dang good. Forget the superfly, go with the blue. The T-Board allows you to install an ACE system, or electronic eyes that detect the paintballs to help stop the gun from breaking them. And it also has a very high ROF cap, meaning you can shoot faster. I beleive it is just a drop in board, but I am not really sure, so wait until someone more knowledgible tells you. And you could consider it a waste, personally I would buy an Ion(I am anyways :)), but if you like your spyder then by all means upgrade it.

Okay, if u REALLY love ur spyder then we can concentrate on making it close to a ion.

To make a spyder equal or close to a ion u have to options. Get the zip kit and make it electro pneumatic like a bko operates. OR we can try to get the best blowback. For the best blowback-t-board, cp reg, blue bolt, high end barrel, ndz or a ccm feedneck, aka bolt and aka's valve.

The t-board is a drop-in board, just screw it in and the connects from the old wiring harness will still work. While ur doing this i recommend buying a presodered switch (50g is good)from sceanrio dreams anyway and attaching that also. So u can use all the new rof.

Not understanding u exaclty about the "electric trigger" If u mean the trigger itself, then YEA, u can keep that. Or u can buy a new one, like the thraser by ACP who also make the blue bolt.

okay u lost me on sum of that...so just be a lil more specific....sigh and what makes an ion so much better? can i overachieve an ions performance?

And Ion is better because of the way it operates. The Ion is not like the spyder. The spyder uses blowback(hence the name) which can go back up the feedtube slowing down feeding. Also the way in which the spyder operates makes it inherently less accurate. Another problem with a spyder is kick. When you are used to a spyder, you dont notice it, I know i didnt. But after being used to my autococker, which has no kick, when i shot my friends spyder, i was amazed at the kick. you MIGHT be able to beat an Ion in performance, but it would take a lot of money, and you could buy an Ion for that money, but it is really all up to you.

LOL well see heres the thing.... I just now got the spyder imagine 05...i was told it was an awesome gun so i took action :D....I really want it to perform nicely and what not...basicly i just want a nice gun :D....So just suggestions help out a lot....Are drop forwards any good? One person mentioned a reg...is that a nice one? Or any other reg suggestions? umm the blue bolt looks pretty dang nice....Do i just buy that and put it in? or do i need to do anything special to it and whatnot? ummm the t-board sounds like a solid choice aswell...where can i purchase it at? So what else am i going to need to make this gun a pretty solid marker?

also does there happen to be a spyder that is better then an ion for about $300...just might consider it...even though i like my imagine :D so i still want suggestions

the blue bolt should slide right in were your stock one is,

and NO theres is no ION quality spyders. The highest spyder is the Fenix I think and its still not as good as an ION. But the mecanisme being different its hard to compare.

edit: and by the way I am not saying this because I like the ION, actually I hate everything thats extra popular (tippmanns and ION mostly).

for a blue bolt, you will need to buy an autococker cocking rod, and also you will need to cut off the round plate thing above the velocity adjuster, this will make it rear cocking(which is the route im goin with my imagine) otherwise get the top milled top cocking

to clear it up all spyders are the same on the inside, the only diff is the milling and trigger frames nad extra bolts and stuff the fenix has

The blue bolt would just slide in. You would just replace your existing bolt with it. However the blue bolt is a rear cocking bolt so you would need to screw an autococker cocking rod into the back of the bolt (the whole thing would be install just like normal) and you would need to leave the cover that would normally go on after th bolt off. There shouldn't be any need to cut anything. It's not difficult and if you know how remove the bolt and put the marker back together it will be very obvious when you do it.

There are also top cocking bolts available on the market too that would be a straight 1 for 1 swap with the old bolt. You could try a spudnukl bolt. Or if you want to be cheap you can remove the venturi from the stock bolt to get more airflow.

A spring kit is a good investment too. I've seen 32* spring kits on Ebay for $7 shipped.

A good barrel is probably the most important upgrade. Since you have a barrel on the way, an egg, and compressed air the upgrades you might want to look at next are a new bolt, maddman rocket valve, regulator, or spring kit. Basically, increasing the air flow to the back of the ball and controlling the psi for more eaven shots. Once you have that done, upgrading your electronic frame would be a good idea.

There are plenty of other mods/upgrades you can do. It's really up to you which direction you take the marker. Read up and learn what each one does for your marker and decide what's most important for you. If you want the equivelant of a stock ION it will take some good ups.

This is why I use Gameface spyder clones. You can find them on sale significantly cheaper than a spyder and you end up putting the same exact upgraded parts in them anyway. Just about the only difference is how they look. So really, IMO, it just comes down to preference.

It sounds like you're relatively new to the game. Stick with a spyder/spyder clone until you understand the maintinace and priciples of the marker. I've seen plenty of kids that show up to my local field with tricked out spyders and some high end markers but don't know how to adjust the velocity, replace the o-ring on thier tanks, or how to disassemble/reassemble them. These are mechanical devices and require cleaning and lubrication just like any other. This is true of any marker not just spyders/spyder clones.

Well, it all really depends if you want to turn it in. You can make it a decent gun, but personally I would save up and get an Ion. And for the blue bolt, you can just slide it in, but you will have no way to cock the gun. That is why you need the autococker cocking rod. Or to mill the gun.

At a paintball shop, Ebay, online store, etc..... Anyplace that sell paintball equipment. You also don't want to ask for an auto cocking rod. You want a cocking rod for an autococker. Basically it's just a threaded rod that screws into the back of an autocockers bolt so you can pull the bolt back and cock it. All stock rear cocking spyder bolts are just one piece so the cocking rod is really built in. But many after market bolts are made with just a treaded hole to add a cocking rod from an autococker so that it can be used on with a side cocking or top cocking marker as well. It just makes the part more versitile.
