Before you all flame me adn complain "Oh noez, not another military thread", Veterans day is comming up (Nov 11) and I want to just individually reflect upon those who have served in the military. I just want to do somethign a bit special. I would thank everyone in person, but I simply can't.

That being said, who here has served in the military? I know some that have, but I'll leave it for them to say.

SO yea, what did you do in the military? If you dont want to say (or if its classified :naughty ), thats cool.

Thank you all.

Well I didn't serve but my dad was in the Lebanese military during the civil war and my uncle was a sniper then. He's got a kill record of like 10-15 people or something. Not totally sure. I gotta get it checked with him... He told me some of his war stories and they left me crazed.

Also, my uncle on my mom's side was in Vietnam. He was a private.

My dad was a sargeant.

Also, after my dad left lebanon he joined the American armed forces.

My grandpa lost his leg helping someone whos car broke down on the highway.. So he couldnt ebin the navy. Instead he became a naval inspector and inspected ships that went through hingham shipyard. He met my grandmother there. I recently was a security guard on the USS Salem during several open events as volunteer work...

My great uncle on my mothers side left highschool to fight in Korea. I also have a good friend who served in IRaq , and is in the Korean military. (South Korean). He's going to move to USA soon. While in Iraq he was shot in the arm by friendly fire.

Alpha...why do you want to fight for a country that is becomming more and more corrupt? Politicians in Washington don't care about you or your services, you're expendable.

I'm interested in the military, but am sickened by the idea of politicians in Washington deciding my fate. I don't want to waste my life dieing for the jackasses in this country that would piss on my grave in a second.

my dad fought in the egyptian/isreal war in the 60's. As did my uncle. My dad would pin-point where to launch the missle and at what time then would tell my uncle and then my uncle would aim to the area and shoot and blow up the plane. my dad still has his pistol from that war. He told me the only time he used it was when he saw a lizard on the wall then shot it cooked it and ate it

Yea, it wasn't exactly happy about not have the schematics for the TV. If he had, I'm pretty sure it would've been a different story. ;)

btw, Chris was gone for Afghanistan (7 months) and Iraq (6months). With only being home 9 months inbetween. Unlike the "normal" (whatever that is) 2 yrs between deployments. Not the same as fighting on the ground, but he was gone too.

I'm a Staff Sergeant (E-5) in the U.S. Air Force. I've been in for almost 7 years and plan to do 20. I started out as a Fuel Systems Maintenance Specialist performing fuel systems maintenance on the E-3 AWACS at Tinker Air Force Base (AFB), Oklahoma. I cross trained in 2002 and I am now a Bioenvironmental Engineering Specialist and currently stationed at Tyndall AFB, Florida. I've been all over the world including places like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iraq, Oman, Bahrain, Greece, Spain, Ireland, Germany, England, Nortern Canada, and many states in the U.S. I love serving in the military and wouldn't trade the experiences for anything.

Grandpa on Dad's side was a medic after Korea.
Grandpa on Mom's side was a B-52 pilot.
me and prophet are alot alike. i am waiting on the army to go through there special force track starting with airborne. I would like to go for a 20+ year jaunt pending if they let me.
wow as far as family in the mil....most everyone did. my dad was an army pilot flying helos was a member of the soar program introducing special forces and avation togeather. He never really talked about it but I talked to a guy who was stationed in viet with him and he said my dad could land a helo in an area just a few inchs longer than the helo.

uncle was an anestesiologist...or how ever you spell that junk. Rose through special forces and was taped out for the delta force program. Everytime I talk to him I can't stop listening. He was a from what I understand anyway weapons specialist and medic. They could set up an operating room in a plane and land carry out an assualt and be operating during takeoff.
cool stuff

My grandpas both faught moms dad was a tank comander from the very end of ww2 (no combat from my understanding) and through out the korean debacle.

dads dad was a superfortress bombadeer (sp) in ww2 over what was left of europe. he lost 3 brothers in the war all doing the same type of thing. one was a gunner and I don't know the rest.

my brother has bad kidneys or something so he got turned down. Im second in line and am sure I will serve well.

btw im 19 and bdays on sept 13.
