Still can't do it on my own so I take melatonin to try to regulate my sleep cycle then ended up taking night quill to finally hit pillow at 2. any one else having trouble with that. I know who the late nighters on here are but anyone winning the fight...any tips.

I've had that same problem for awhile. I'll be out really, really late, come home, fall asleep, and wake up in 4 hours feeling fully refreshed. I dont really mind it though, makes for more free time during the day. :)

First off, _DONT_ take sleeping pills, they wont help anything. Next, in an effort to get to sleep and to broaden your horizon, try reading to get to sleep. 1984 is a good book for that, because the topic is pretty neat, but the way it's written is sleep inducing. If you look on kazaa there's these songs that supposedly are sleep inducing, mostly just waves and thunderstorms and crap, but they never work for me. You could always give it a try for yourself though. Pretty much anything that doesn't involve physical activity. Don't exercise right before you go to bed. My roommate used to do that so he would just roll into bed and die from exhaustion, but then he found out that it just increases his heartrate. Back to reading, dont read magazines, they dont help at all, it has to be a novel. If youre looking for books that are boring as **** and have no relevance to anything and have the most boring topics ever, might i suggest: Tale of Two Cities, The Scarlet Letter, The Innocents Abroad, The Great Gatsby, and that book by Charloette Bronte.

ED: As for waking up early after going to bed late, yeah, i havnt had that problem since high school when my internal clock wasnt completely demolished from college. The only thing i can suggest is to try and kill your internal clock.

Believe it or not, I'm having the same problem. During HS I would wake up insanely early to go running before everything else, which would end up being around 3:45 every morning (except weekends).

But ever since I got out of school last Tuesday I haven't been able to fall asleep any earlier than 3 AM. I end up waking up at 10 and feel crappy since I've wasted a lot of useful time sleeping in bed.

I'm just gonna try to fall asleep at like 9 or so, see if that sets me back where I'm supposed to be. If anyone has any tips I'd love to hear them too.

im in bed at around 1, and read for an hour and then im tired by around 2, so it works out for me

the only way i can sleep is if i have several fans turned up on me, and have my radio playing really softly, the fans are very soothing, not only in making you nice and cool, but the sound just makes you want to sleep. and if all else fails, smoke a jack or 2 before you go to bed, when i do it at night i can go to sleep right away

I've tried the same stuff Bubba, it kinda worked at first then my body realized i was trying to do something good and decided to go crazy again :p

I'm having a different problem now though. I go for a couple days awake, alert, and then i have a couple days of just utter uselessness and i just sleep constantly. It's getting really annoying. Everytime i hang out with people now i end up falling alseep on someone's floor and waking up to someone's ass in my face or something. What friends they are  I'm gonna give my buddy at GNC a call and see if he can give me something to get me through the day so maybe i can start crashing at night. I will beat this! ;)

Yes I actually do Duo. See, what I did in the millitary involved sleep deprivation, and mild starvartion and such (combat survival) so we were trained how to combat it, regain your circadium rythm in minimal time and function well.
This is your best bet to get yourself out of that rutt, Say you are stuck on your 3am-10am sleep cycle. What you want to do is STAY UP an entire night, Say when you would normally go to bed just keep moving and dont eat any big meals, as this will cause an insulin spike and make you instantly exhausted. Just stay up all night and do your normal routine for a day, after about noon on the all-nighter day it wont be so bad. On the second day, aviod in caffiene or nicotine after 3pm. Towards the evening you are gonna feel it, BUT do not give in and take a nap. Crash at around 10pm or so, and SET your alarm. No matter how tired you are get up at the time you want to start awaking at. This is gonna make you tired for a few days, but your body will adjust quickly:)

I got picked to test and new kind of drug that they were going to issue to Specail Op guys to help them stay focused when they cant sleep for 48+ hours:) It was experimental so I got to wear the blood pressure thingy and I had to write "how I feel" like every 2 hours.

im on lunch break right now. Im feeding a insulation hopper. Its hot out and the insulation is really dusty today so Im trying my best to stay awake. I feel like a power nap get 10 minutes in and ill be good. im eating and reading at the same time here so its all good. I don't want anymore pills or anything. melatonin is the same stuff your body makes to help sleep it runs out over time when you in your 40s and some people need to take it as a supliment.

Had to read that for school. Dickens sucks at making it interesting, but when you analyze and look at what he is actually trying to say, it's really very good. But just plain reading it sucks ass. You have to have someone who knows what it's about for it to be ok.

Wow, I'm not alone. I finally go about 4, wake up from 12-2. It's ass. I just can't go to sleep. I can't go to bed early though, cause I always watch adult swim. I out wouldn't care to be up so late if I could goof around and stuff, but everyone else is asleep. One time, when I had he house to myself for 2 weeks, I had no sleep schedule. I'd live it up till about 3am, wake up at 12pm, go back about 7:30am Wake up at 6pm, and so on. Man, I hate sleeping. I takes up too much time.

i have major add so my mind is always racing before bed, but i have a no fail trick i learned from some wise old chinese guy. just completely clear your mind. dont let any thoughts in. make it so all you see is nothingness, and there is no "monkey chatter" going on in your head. you may think the effort you put your brain through just clearing your mind will keep you up, but i highly doubt youll last 5 minutes with a completely blank mind

I'm usually up till 12:30 or 1 then I go to sleep but i gotta wake up at around 6:45 so it sucks tryin to stay awake during 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd. Romeo and Juliet during second hour was killer. I fell asleep ealisy 5 times when we were reading that. I put my book on my lap and my head part way on the desk so it looked like i was still readin, then i would just pass out for about half an hour. Also personal fitness video's during 1st hour can be pretty tough too.

Like an orgasm!

I actually fall asleep only when I think a LOT, and it has to be about anything but thinking. And sometimes I try to think, and then I think that I'm thinking about thinking so I can sleep, and even that is enough to keep me awake. You can't think about sleeping at all, and you can't try to think of something else, cuz when you try, you always know that it's only to try to fall asleep, and then in the back of your mind, you have the thought of sleep, which is bad.
