Tippmann Sniper

I got a Tippmann 98c and got a stock and 14" barrel for it. I'm wondering should I get a scope. Does the scope do anything? If you are sniping then I would think it would but I'm not sure. Advice?

This thread should answer your answers on sniping

https://www.paintballforum.com/forum/...hlight=sniping

The closest thing to a scope i would put on a tippmann would be a red dot site.

when paintballin most of the action goes on at a range that a scope would give you tunnel vission and make it EZer for some one to sneak up on ya or bunker you.

But if you want a sight get a red dot so this way you can still beable to see about were your aiming and still be aware of what is going on around you.

Also there are not alot of true snipers in woodball. the best you can do is set up an ambush but setting one up takes some skill to pull off

Scopes dont work to the effect that no paintball can be predicted well enough to accurately "snipe" someone.

Use a volume of paint.

snipe is a bad word....

It realy is a bad word... a better one would be a a MARKSMAN and not a sniper... Snipers use state of the art technology to hit a target a long ways away. A Marksman uses skill and thats what you need in paintball... not a kazillion inch barrel and a scope...

Scope:
Not needed. Magnification is no use in paintball

Red Dot Sight:
Can help with aiming if you like to use red dots.

On PBF:
"Sniping" is a dirty word apparently
Although you and I might not think the semantics matter, for the rest of the forum it does.

I agree with 98customplayer1, "Marksman" would be a better term to use on these forums. Hopefully a little more flame retardant.

Marksman reminds me more of a person who makes markers (like, permanent markers).

Marksman is probably less flame worth than sniper.

1337 sniper sounds a better insult than 1337 marksman

So you'd rather have a different name so people wont make fun of you....thats like when the other reindeer wouldnt play with rudolph so he took up with that lazy bum elf who wanted to be a dentist. Look at the hell Rudolph had to put up with just so he wouldnt be made fun of. I'd use the word sniper over marksman anyday of the week than hang out with that ****** elf.

Interesting take on that.

Personally, I don't care what term people use to insult me, or if they insult me to begin with.

I was simply trying to help someone else. Apparently this forum is trigger happy on the flame-thrower when it comes to using words like:
"sniper"
"tactics"
"MilSim"

The thing is, regardless of the sight, how many times have you found your self in an in game situation with enough time to stop, and aquire the target, adjust your aim for range, check the sight, and fire?

RedDots aren't really ment for that.

You adjust your sight for about 100 feet before game time. RedDot is somply used a guide, not an exact scope crosshair.
