sorry this post was made by a friend but still feel free to suggest...we think we ordered a flatline, stock, and remote, and response trigger, but would a e-grip make any difference for him?

I'm guessing that it'll be used for woods, hence the remote and stock.

Flatlines are kinda iffy, IMO. They can be very picky about paint, and if you get a break in the barrel then they're a pain in the ass to clean. I'd personally get a 14" J&J or Lapco Bigshot over the Flatline. Sure, the flatline gets you a lot more range, but you're sacrificing accuracy for it, and from what I've heard they can be kinda inconsistent in their groupings.

As for R/T vs E-grip:
An R/T will give you an auto-like effect, with the marker still saying as a "one-pull-one-shot" marker. However, some fields don't allow R/Ts, so in those you'd have to disable the R/T. An R/T won't let you walk or pull the trigger any faster, but you'll be able to fire in bursts.
An E-Grip, being an electronic trigger, will allow you to walk a fair bit faster than a stock trigger or R/T will. It also comes with a number of other fire modes, such as burst, auto, turbo and responce (or is it rebound?). Most fields don't allow auto and the like, so IMO, they aren't much use. Also, the downside of an E-Grip is that they rely on batteries to work, which is the one thing that's turned me off them. I'd personally rather have something that's fully mechanical (even if it's a bit slower) over something that uses batteries (one less thing that you have to worry about running out of, and one less expence).

So an R/T lets you have an auto-like burst, but not all fields allow it, while an E-Grip allows you to walk a lot faster than stock, but needs batteries.

Scrap the flatline, just get a nice 14 inch. The RT has worked fine for me in woodsball but if you want speed your going to have to go for something else.

No, the E-Grips will not increase the ROF of the A-5 to a noticeable amount. It will just allow you to install the WAS Equalizer board for more firing modes and settings.

I would advise your friend to sell it before the value drops even MORE, but make sure that he can maintain a gun that doesn't have such a high level of tolerance when it comes to, oh i dont know, throwing the gun at the wall and stuff.

Like if he gets an ION for example, make sure he can take care of it, it requires a lot more attention than an a5

Why do people always suggest different guns for a UPS thread. If he has an A5 there is probably a reason that he bought it. Durable unlike the Ion or maybe just personal preference. Any way I have a flatline and have nothing bad to say about it, I dont know why people say its a pain to clean because all you have to do is loosen 2 bolt and turn the barrell a quarter of a turn then run a squeege through it. So flatline yes. Rufus dog makes a good bolt for these guns and would be the one i recommend but i havent seen any of the other bolts in action. Also if you plan on running CO2 then you may want to get an expansion chamber kit to help stabalize you velocity. The E-Grip in my opinion is the way to go, get that with a JCS duel trigger and its basically like clicking a mouse to squeeze the trigger. the batteries last a good while also, i think i had mine in there for a month or a month and a half playing on saturdays for like 7 hours at a time. also replacing the battery is easy. Hmmmmmm thats all i can think of right now other than just personal options such as stock, sights, mag kits. oh also ive been told that polishing the internals will help but i havent done it to my gun to see the results. Hope this helps.

when that thing starts breaking balls like crazy, taking some screws out, turning it and taking it out and then have to put it all back together isnt what you want to do in the middle of a game

the accuracy isnt very good on the a5 flateline, and it doesnt matter how far it can shoot....when your that far away that only a flateline can reach you, when the balls hit you 99% of the time they bounce....get a 14inch J&J, e-grip, ricochet hopper, hpa, maybe a remote line, double trigger, and do the pen spring mod.....buy a new e-grip it will come stock with the w.a.s. but rampage boards are water proof, also if you get a board that will shoot faster your going to need to buy a QEV to speed up the cyclone feed.

I know paint is different and there are many factors to ball breaking but i have only broken 1 ball when I had it on full auto. I do understand that there are barrels that can continue to shoot with a ball break but if you take care of your paint and gun you shouldn't have to worry about breaks. Not saying it wont happen but from my own experience ive seen way more ball break from electronic hoppers than any of the A5's at our field here.
