I am buying an A5 and i need some advice

Hey all I am new to the paintball world and I want to get an A5 for my first gun. A few questions I have are:

What kind of trigger should I use?
double? response? response and double?

What kind of barrel should I use?
i am normally a upfront player

What kind of hopper would you recommend I get?

My budget isnt that great so please keep it within reason?

A double trigger only helps on electronic markers so you can "walk" the trigger. On a mech like the A5 the trigger pull is too heavy so it won't do anything and the response trigger doesn't benefit from one either. Barrels aren't all that important but ANYTHING is better than the stock A5 barrel which is the worst stock barrel in the history of stock barrels. I've always loved Lapco barrels and I've become a big fan of the new FLASC barrels recently as well. For hoppers the A5 has the Cyclone so there isn't anything you do there. There are a few different shaped hoppers that hold more or less paint or come in different styles but the Cyclone is still a Cyclone so the feed rate is the same.

would i benifit from an electronic hopper like the Tippmann Triumph AL-200 Electronic Loader?

Seriously, get an invert mini and save all kinds of $$ with the a-5 upgrades you are looking at. The mini comes out of the box with everything the A-5 could ever do. It might not look milsim but thats just eye candy and heavy, you play PB to shoot paint. My A-5 with flatline and electronic trigger is hitting ebay soon. In the cold the A-5 cyclone turns into a blender (i know, another upgrade squishy paddles...)

If you are going to get an A-5 just get the A7 hopper its smaller profile unless you play where marker hits don't count.

My 2cents

Regular trigger is fine. Any size barrel you want to use is fine length doesn't matter but 14" is typically the longest you want anything longer becomes hard to maneuver on the field. The Cyclone CAN'T be replaced it is built into the marker.

A Tippmann isn't more durable than anything else on the market anymore. The old Tippmanns were downright indestructible if you ever have the chance to compare the A5 or X7 to a Carbine or Pro Lite or really anthing pre-98 you will see what I mean.

You got good advice there. The Pilot is cheaper and faster and eyes will prevent chops. Unless you like the milsim style taking the Pilot over the A5 is a better move.

what do you mean by milsim style??? so you would take the spyder over teh a5?
also if you say spyder should i get a hopper for it?? or will the gravity hopper keep up with the gun?

milsim is short for "military simulation" means the A5 looks more like a real gun, which doesnt mean it shoots any better, just that there is extra metal and plastic for the look, metal and plastic you have to carry around the field

and yes, pilot with eye over the A5 for sure id take almost any spyder over any tippmann. pilot with eye or look at the electra, both will come with a double trigger, e-frame, clamping feedneck and on off asa over the a5 which doesnt (i may be wrong on one of those for the pilot but i know they are all on the electra) they will be smaller, lighter and just as durable as the a5

if money is an issue you can rock a shake and bake for a while if you want, its not like the spyders wont work on them but if you want to get the most out of it you will need some form of force feed hopper (look into the halo TOO, fantastic hoppers) with the eyes you will not get any chops which is nice but you wont be able to fire out tons of paint either

Yeah definitely get the Pilot or the Electra. The Spyder Electra is just a Pilot made of aluminum and will be way more durable. It is about $30 more I believe.
