A-5 Velocity

Hi all,

I recently bought myself a new stock A-5 marker for self defense purposes along with some 200 rounds of solid nylon balls. I have not chrono the marker yet but have been told it shoots at +- 270 fps out the box. I have also not adjusted the velocity screw on the marker yet. I've added the 14" twister barrel for better accuracy and i use a 12oz co2 bottel

My question is as follows. I would like to increase the velocity of the marker to at least 400 fps, what do I need to change / upgrade to accomplish this?

Thanks

I doubt you'll get much help on that. While I understand what you're doing, it goes against everything we stand for in the industry to help someone purposely shoot over 300 fps. We preach safety as the most important aspect of our sport, and one of the key parts of that is 300 fps limit. We have enought problems with how unsafe some people consider our sport so that very few of us will purposely assist someone in furthering the myth that paintball markers are desinged to hurt someone.

It's easy to get well over 400fps but I don't want any part of it.

not to mention there are a lot better ways of self protection that dont involve useing a marker that is not meant for self protection. the more it sits the more in question its oporation will be if you ever need it. a reball impact will not nearly incapasitate someone as quickly as a stun gun

Thanks for voicing your concerns and believe me I fully understand what you guys are saying and where you are coming from. However I was lead to believe that the marker option is my best solution. Having said that I need to make the most of what I have. I can 100% without a doubt say that the gun will be used purely for self defense and that it wont be used to go and play with. I plan on doing some target shooting in the open piece of land behind us to make sure everything stays in working order.

I fully understand that you dont want to share the details on how to accomplish this on an open message board and would really appreciate it if you can send me a pm.

thanks

whoever told you that that was your best option is speaking out their ass and/or plans on breaking into your house themselves. seriously, even at 400 a swift hit from a baseball bat will do more damage

do yourself a favor, go get a stun gun, they are meant to sit and work when you need them unlike a marker whos operation will be more and more in question the longer it sits

kitchen knife, sword, 2x4, mace, taser, heck, hand gun...all better options, most of which are meant for self defense but if people start defending themselves with the equipment in our sport it doesnt matter that it was used in self defense all the public will see is the marker and that it has the ability to harm someone, they wont look into the fact that you have it turned up to 400 or were only using this one for self defense. they will see all fields as "dangerous" doesnt matter that masks are worn and everyone is shooting under 300. Around here we push safety more than anything else by a long shot so nobody is going to help you make this thing do what you want and even if someone does its still not a good idea just because the longer it sits the more in question its operation will be. you dont want to pick it up, pull te trigger and have nothing come out the barrel because unknown to you your tank has had a small, un-noticeable leak for weeks and is now empty. Or the main spring after sitting for so long at a higher tension because you have turned it up, a tension that it was not designed to be used at. has lost its spring and will now only shoot at 200

not only am i telling you this is a bad idea for our sport but its a bad idea because nothing paintball was ever designed for self defense, what your trying to do is use a honda civic for an off road race. it was never designed to do it so instead of forcing it to, just go find something that is designed to do what you are looking for

Thanks for the reply. I'll spend some time thinking over all the options I have. Maybe I should give up on the self defense marker option as you say.

By the way, I think the A-5 is an awesome marker and I'm not the sorry at all that I bought it. I'm even thinking of taking up the sport.
