Exclamation My Tippman 98 Custom Platinum series

Ok, I dont have any pics up, yet, I will get them uploaded to photo bucket soon and get the links on here.
I'm gonna list all the stuff I got one my gun, and what I plan to put on, and I would like you guys to suggest anything else that you think I should add onto the gun to help its performance.
When I started with this gun my main idea was to get it into a marker that would be very accurate and consistent, and hopefully be able to out-range other markers, I know I cannot make it into a true 'sniper' rifle, but I'm gonna try to make it the most consistent and accurate I can get it so I can hopefully do a little better than other people who I play woodsball with.

Right now I have this setup:
Marker: standard Tippman 98 Custom Platinum series, no e-trigger or anything.
Barrel: cannot remember exactly what its called because the site i ordered it from went out of business, but they called it a 'recon' barrel, its rifled, oh and its 18". And i have the 1st Apex with an adapter on it.
Air system: Remote coil with quick disconnect
Hopper: standard Wal-Mart 200 rd gravity hopper

This is what i plan to do/add:
Air system: Lapco gas expansion chamber
Trigger: Double trigger, the Fang trigger, may do the clicky pen spring mod to make it easier to use.
Hopper: Cyclone hopper with 50 round tube style hopper *(should be lower profile, I dont spray much and am good at realoads so it should work good, I want a hopper that isn't really easy to see either.

All of these upgrades I am gonna put on are for performance, I want to add a barrel shroud and maybe a stock later on to make it look alot cooler. And I may add some high-rise sights so I can look through them with my mask on. When I get more money and time I may pick up an A-5, and do some of the same things to it, but I will probably use the A-5 as more of an assault rifle because I can get it with a response trigger.

If you guys can think of anything else i should add onto this please comment on this. If you guys like it you can comment on it also. Oh, and tell me your set-up and how you use it, just curious.

I will be updating this as I go along and say what else I have added, and will try to get some pictures up of it as well.

P.S. Sorry for all the reading, but its worth it. And I really cant make it any shorter.

First step in this is add all the money that it would take to add all those upgrades, then see if you could buy a better marker instead. I mean you could buy a civic and put all this money into it but its always going to be a civic if you get my drift.

The plan to make your marker the most accurate and consistent marker out there is one that lots of other players have tried and it is a great way to sink a lot of money and effort into a never ending hole for your cash. The key to accuracy in paintball is to forget about accuracy altogether and just focus on the consistency plan to get your second and third shots to land near where your first shot landed. If you want to hit people in a single shot from across the field every time you will just be disappointed.

To get consistency you need a regulated air source, good quality paint and last and definitely least comes the barrel which just needs to have a clean and smooth bore. So to improve your 98C and get the most out of it switch to HPA or if using CO2 buy a regulator like a PPS stabilizer. Next make sure you aren't using the cheapest paint you can find the paintballs will be inconsistent sizes and usually the fill amount inside the paintballs will differ from one ball to the other and in general cheap paint is just terrible to shoot. Lastly the barrels don't do much you will get noticeably better results just using good paint but keep the barrel clean with a handy swab and make sure it is reasonably close to the size of the paint you are shooting.

Don't get caught up in trying to buy performance a part or two at a time especially trying to get accuracy. Paintballs will never be accurate and that is the same if you are shooting a $100 marker or a $1000 marker.

As for your upgrades the Cyclone and Tac cap are a lot of fun if you want limited paint but you'd benefit from just using a regular forcefeed loader and not shooting as much. The double trigger is a waste of money your 98C isn't going to shoot any faster with it. The expansion chamber is okay but again if you are using CO2 splurge for a PPS stabilizer if you can they are the best upgrade you can buy if you are limited to using CO2.

Ok, will look up that stuff about the PPS stabilizer regulator. I've been watching stuff and I'm not gonna spend a bunch on it, just stuff trying to get it more consistent, I agree with the thing, there is no one shot kill unless your using the First Strike rounds, but that costs too much, might as well just get more .308 round and go deer hunting cause those cost the same.

But yeah, trying to watch my amount I'm spending on it, I'm at $200 so for on it. Gonna try to keep under $400 if I can, but stuff to keep it more consistent with Co2 is what I'm going for. Double trigger is mainly for finger fatigue, gonna do the clicky pen mod to help with that also. And I watched some reviews by some guys and he used like 6 different kinds of paint and so I got a good idea on the stuff I can get. Will the PPS stabilizer take place of expansion chamber? And Eventually I'm gonna get a ceramic lined barrel by J&J so I could get a better shot cause those are extremely slick inside. And gonna keep using an Apex because it should help alot in woodsball.

The PPS Stabilizer will replace the expansion chamber and if you are going to be using CO2 for the foreseeable future I'd strongly recommend buying one. Part of the reason HPA is so consistent as an air source is because the tanks are regulated. CO2 tanks aren't regulated and instead relies on CO2 in the tank boiling off and outputting the pressure at 800psi or so. The trouble is that sometimes things don't always work like that especially in the warm weather and your shots will have an unpredictable velocity making them go all over the place. An expansion chamber will help a bit but is nowhere near in the same league as a proper regulator and there is no better regulator than a PPS stabilizer. As a further plus the resale value on them is very high and ironically a used PPS stabilizer will sell for more than a used 98C.

Can anyone link me to a PPS regulator, i cannot find one ANYWHERE, all i get is forum stuff.

Edit: Actually, you know what, gimme a list of what all I could do to my marker that would make a much more consistent fps on the paintballs for under, $150-$200. I really cant spend any more than that, Its already a $200 marker. And I do plan on adding a double fang trigger and cyclone feeder sometime to make it more user friendly for my style of play. And I may also add a folding stock and barrel shroud so I can hold onto it better, and those two things combined are about $80, and the trigger system will run me about $30. So I'm gonna try and keep the performance stuff on this gun as low as I can, I realize that I may end up spending $400 total or maybe a little more on this marker. But all I want to make it into is just a good woodsball gun, may not even do the shroud and stock because they really wont be much use, mainly for looks.
