Question breaking paint

I'm having trouble with my tippman 98 it keeps breaking paint, I don't think its chopping it because theres no paint splatter in the gun when I take the barrel off. its breaking in the barrel im guessing, it don't beak all the time as I can get 4 or 5 shots off perfectly then they randomly break. hasnt done this before until today

There's a pretty good chance that your ball detent is not working correctly. There should be an orange rubber tad that holds the balls in the breach. If this is not workign right, or is missing, balls will roll into the barrel and you'l have issues like this.

If the detent is still there, stick you finger into the barrel and flick it around, to see if it won't pop back up. If it's missing entirely, ask your shop if you can purchase one. If they rent out the tippman 98, you can bet on them having extra detents.

Just had a look at the detent and yea its in good shape. I even asked the owner at my local paintball field what could be wrong and he couldnt even figure out what would be wrong.

Check in the beach area, where the two halves of the body come together, you could have a small burr in there. Friend of mine had this issue and had one hell of a time figuring it out. If you have a small burr it could be slicing paintballs as they leave the beach, it won't slice every one but it will slice enough to be really really annoying
